Conservatory Policies and Procedures (2009)
New Students

1. Before instruction may begin at Midwest Music Conservatory, the following will need to be read, signed and completed:

  • Policies and Procedures Form
  • Registration Form
  • Registration Fee: Payment of $25 for individuals or $40 per familys
    [Registration fees are payable to Midwest Music]

2. The registration fee is annual, and a reminder will be sent to you and your instructor on the eleventh month of Conservatory participation.

3. Make sure that an administrator or instructor has been in contact with you prior to the first lesson to determine what materials, books or accessories are required.

Tuition Payment

1. Tuition payments are made directly to instructor by cash or check.

2. Payments are due by the first lesson/class of the month.

3. Payments made after the 15th of the month will result in an additional 10% charge.

4. Returned checks will result in an additional $20 fee.

5. Midwest Music Conservatory schedules lessons and classes by the month. The tuition rates are the following:

  • Private Lessons (30 Minutes): $85 / 4 Lessons
    Prorated Tuition (Holidays and Instructor Cancellations): $64 / $42.50 / $21
  • Private Lessons (45 Minutes): $120 / 4 Lessons
    Prorated Tuition: $90 / $60 / $30
  • Private Lessons (60 Minutes): $150 / 4 Lessons
    Prorated Tuition: $113 / $75 / $38
  • Group Lessons (45 Minutes): $64 / 4 Lessons
  • Ensemble (60 Minutes): $35 / 2 Lessons
    Ensembles are only available to students in group or private lessons, adjusted to fit a group schedule and may differ from month to month.
  • Workshops: Cost determined by instructor

6. Saturday classes for Music Fundamentals & Theory are free for all Conservatory students. Availability is dependent upon overall enrollment and class schedule. Please speak with your instructor or contact the Conservatory Director.

Cancellations

1. Cancellations by student/parent will forfeit tuition for that lesson.

2. Reschedules or make-ups are at the discretion of the teacher.

3. Tuition will be reduced/pro-rated the following month for instructor cancellations.

4. During inclimate weather Midwest Music Conservatory or instructors will contact the student/parent of cancellation.

5. No lessons will be held on national holidays. Students and parents will be reminded on such days.

6. Two absences are permitted per year: Christmas and summer vacation. Instructors must be notified in advance.

Audio, Video and Photograph Release

1. Midwest Music Conservatory may photograph a student for promotional purposes.

2. Some lessons may be recorded to assess the development of a student for parents and for the faculty to determine placement in workshops and ensembles.

3. Performances and recitals may also be recorded (audio/video) for use by Midwest Music Conservatory as a product and promotion that will be made available for students to purchase.

Termination

1. Permanent cancellation for private and ensemble instruction must be made with instructor or an administrator before the 15th of the current month.

2. Cancellations after the 15th of the month will be recognized at the end of the following month. Payment for the full tuition will be required.

3. Classes and some workshops that run for specific periods are non-refundable.

4. Registration fees are also non-refundable.
